GETTING STARTED & ORDERS

What equipment do I need to start beekeeping?

We offer complete beginner kits—including hive bodies, frames, protective gear, and tools—so you can get started confidently.

How do I choose the right hive location?

Look for a sunny spot with morning light, sheltered from strong winds, and easy access to flowering plants and water sources.

Can I order individual items instead of a full kit?

Yes—ApiKen lets you mix-and-match equipment, from smokers and feeders to extractors and protective wear.

Do you offer hands-on training or only online resources?

We host both in-person workshops across Kenya and an ever-growing library of video tutorials and guides.

Do you ship outside Kenya?

Yes—domestic and international shipping options are available. Shipping rates depend on weight, destination, and chosen carrier.

HIVE CARE & SUPPORT

How often should I inspect my hive?

Generally every 7–10 days during active season; less frequently when colonies are stable or in cooler months.

What should I feed my bees during a dearth?

ApiKen’s patented sugar-syrup feed and pollen substitute formulas keep your colonies healthy when natural forage is scarce.

How do I prevent common pests like Varroa mites?

We supply integrated pest-management tools—like screened bottom boards and organic treatments—backed by our expert support.

How long will my equipment last?

With proper care, our high-grade hives and tools will serve you 5–10+ years; replacement parts are available “à la carte.”

Who can I contact for ongoing support?

Our ApiKen helpline and email support are open Monday–Saturday. You’ll also gain access to our private community forum for peer advice.
