Advised Kenya USA Diaspora Sacco on restructuring of their HR operations to ensure compliance with Kenyan labour laws including advising the SACCO on a revised Human Resource Manual, provided training for staff on the Sacco’s human resource policies and procedures and assisted the company on an executive recruitment drive.
Advised OnQ Kenya, a subsidiary of multinational group operating in India and USA, on restructuring of its employment contracts affected by withdrawal of a business line. Part of our advice involved advice on redundancy while ensuring compliance with employment laws by balancing business needs with employee welfare.
Advised Mozzartbet Kenya, a leading international betting company, on a variety of commercial transactions including company restructuring, employment laws, commercial transactions including sponsorship arrangements, trademark registration and assignment, HR and AML policies, executive recruitment, betting laws and taxes, commercial leasing, and licensing arrangements with telecommunications service providers.
In collaboration with our partners in South Africa, we advised a multinational corporation on an anonymous complaint against one of its senior managers, including ensuring extensive internal investigations were conducted in line with the company’s policies and best practices. We also advised on disciplinary procedures in accordance with labour legislation and defended the company in an unfair termination suit at the Employment and Labour Relations Court.
Advised Goodwell Investments B.V. on restructuring of its Kenyan operations to align with changes in the strategic objectives of the organisation, including advising on revisions to employee contracts and re-assignment of staff to different programs.
Advised Manix, a leading retailer on a distribution agreement with Levi’s, including the impact of the distribution arrangement on the retailer’s existing lease agreements, third party supply contracts, intellectual property and local labour force.
Advised TSAVO on its human resource arrangements across its group portfolio of companies including structuring of its HR operations, agency agreements, secondment agreements to project companies and aligning its HR administration to ensure legal and operational efficiency across its business.
Advised several real estate developers on service contracts with third party contractors to ensure prompt completion of services including liability for employee claims in cases of work injuries at site under the Work Injury Benefits Act and settlement of dependant claims for deceased workers.
Advised a number of corporate clients on termination of employees in cases of pregnant staff members including issues related to discrimination and statutory obligations concerning leave entitlements where it concerns probation and full time contracts.
